William Lewis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

William R. Lewis was born on November 23rd 1950 in Anderson, South Carolina to Mr. and Mrs. Veodis Lewis Sr. He grew up in the home with five sisters and three brothers. He joined the US Army at the age of eighteen and left with an honorable discharge later to find union with Eliza M. Dawson June 16th 1980 where he gained a stepson and four wonderful daughters of his own who loved him with all of their hearts. He spent the rest of his life nurturing and caring for others because he had a big heart full of love for everyone and never turned a soul down if they needed anything. His surviving siblings are Pauline F. Jones (Hubert Jones) of Anderson, SC, Brenda G. Cowans of Anderson SC, and Cynthia Johnson of Pendleton SC. His surviving children are Dawn M. Curry of Philadelphia, PA, Natasha D Lewis of Anderson SC, Sheena D. Lewis of Jackson Tennessee, Shamika T. Lewis of Jackson, Tennessee, Nakimsha L. Lewis of Anderson, SC, and a stepson, Johnny M. Dawson of Johnston SC. Mr. William R. Lewis was also truly loved by his grandsons, Mister Everett D. Gibert and Sharod Curry (Philadelphia PA) and his nephew, Terry B. Cowans (Terry Lewile) both of Anderson, SC. He had a total of nine grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews. There are also many friends who loves and misses him dearly. He was preceded in death by his (father) Veodis Lewis Sr, (mother) Gertrude Gamble Lewis, (brothers) Veodis Lewis, Jr., Robert James Lewis and Odell Lewis; sisters, Ida Mae Harrison and Shirley A. Lewis; two brothers in-law, Ernest Harrison and JC Johnson,Jr.; a nephew, Bobby Harrison; and a grandson, Shaereem Curry. Acknowledgement from the Family: We, the family of the late William R. Public viewing will be Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 2:00 until 8:00 pm at the mortuary. Funeral service for Mr. Lewis will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 1:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson with interment to follow at the Westview Cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
