    Theodore Williams

    February 8, 1931 - July 20, 2021

    Theodore Manson Williams was born February 8, 1931 in Anderson, SC to the late Mr. Sonnie and Mrs. Stacey Skelton Williams. He was one of seven children that grew up working on the family’s farm. He was educated in the Anderson County Schools and graduated from the Anderson County Training School in 1952. After school, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War. While serving his country, Theodore was attached to a combat unit and a trucking outfit before being honorable discharged. He served in the military from 1953-1955. Upon returning home, he attended Denmark Technical School in Denmark, SC and Allen University in Columbia, SC. After school, Theodore returned home to continue working on the family’s farm. He was also employed with the Clemson Extension Service from 1975 until his retirement in 1993. Even after his retirement, our Patriarch continued to raise animals and crops on his farm. In 1960, on Christmas Day, Theodore married his forever love, Marthena Singleton, from Georgetown, SC. They made their home in Anderson, SC and to this union five children were born. Theodora ‘’Tee’’ Williams (Odell), Tyrone B. Williams (Florence), Pamela Jones (Doug-deceased), Ahmard ‘’Marty’’ J. Williams, and Susan Annette Williams (stillborn). In addition to his wife and children, Theodore is also survived by his eleven grandchildren: Chauncey (Shanna) Williams, Ashley (Rafael) Williams, Taylor Williams, Morris Williams, Jordan Williams, Carl Jones, Jr., Keilan Williams, Joshua Williams, Grant Williams, Jasmen Adams, and Natalie Williams; six great -grandchildren: DeShaun, Dasha, Daylan, Chistopher and Krista Williams, R.J. Floyd, and Taraji Floyd; one brother, Mr. George Williams (Thelma); and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rebecca Williams Richardson and Mrs. Priscilla Clinkscales Williams. In addition to his parents and stillborn daughter, Theodore was preceded in death by one sister, Wilhelmenia W. Walker; four brothers, Garfield, Albert, Thomas, and Hezekiah Williams; and one brother-in-law, Elijah Walker. A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Williams will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson with Dr. James W. Fisher and Pastor James Blanding, officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview A.M.E. Church, Denver, SC. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family is at 118 Burns Bridge, Anderson, SC 29625. Mr. Williams’s service will be streaming live from the Unity Mortuary website.
