Thelma Reynolds Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

The family of Mrs. Reynolds invite you to join them as they celebrate her life on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary of Williamston with Pastor S.A. Mattison, as the eulogist and Reverend Tony Taylor as the presider. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Williamston, SC. The public is invited to pay their respects to Mrs. Reynolds starting on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and continuing on Sunday from 9:00 am until the of the service at the mortuary. The celebration of life will be steamed-live from The Unity Mortuary Facebook page. Thelma Reynolds was born October 7, 1922, in Anderson, SC to the late Joe & Eva Clinkscales. On December 25, 1939, Thelma Married Rufus Porter. To this union, three sons were born. William (Bill) Porter, Wendell Porter, and Rufus H. Porter. Thelma married John Reynolds, Jr. on January 11, 1958. Thelma lived most of her life in Queens & Brooklyn, New York. After 20 years of dedicated service, Thelma retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance in November 1984. Thelma was an avid traveler and enjoyed spending time with her family; lovingly known as “Big Ma”. Thelma liked the excitement of horse racing and casinos throughout the country. She loved sports with the New York Mets and New York Giants as her favorite teams! She frequented Broadway plays, with her favorite play being “Golden Boy”, starring Sammie Davis, Jr. Thelma was a longstanding member of Allen AME Methodist Church in St. Albans, NY; and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church whenever she visited her family in South Carolina throughout her lifetime. Thelma was preceded in eternal peace by her parents, Joe & Eva Clinkscales, her sister Mildred Owens, brothers Roy & Clarence Clinkscales, both of her husbands, Rufus Porter & John Reynolds, Jr., and son William H. Porter. Thelma’s niece, Mary L. Smith, was a Godsend to the family. She dedicated over 6 years to taking the utmost care of her aunt until her passing on January 31, 2022. Her legacy is carried on by her sons, Wendell Porter (Mary) of Kernersville, NC; Rufus H. Porter (Margaret) of Chesterfield, VA Grandchildren: Audrey Porter Ford (Seymore), Sheena Porter Jacobs (Martin), Keith Porter (Sandneatha), Kenneth Porter (Mary), Sophia Porter, Rufus H. Porter, Jr., Kimberly M. Porter, and Karen Dawson Great-Grandchildren: Julius Moore, Yesenia Moore, Rachel Cabble, Kasha Jones, Karis Porter, Antonio Key, Edasha Key, Cameron Jones, Nykia Simpkins, Jamiya Simpkins, Semaj Scott, Taylor Scott, Zaccheus Miles, Zavier Miles, Joshua Jacobs, Taylor Jacobs, Jayden D.E. Baker, and Amaya L. Staton Great-Great-Grandchildren: Antonio Key, Jr., Amari Smith, Jayden Moore and a host of loving nieces and nephews. The family will be at their respective homes.
