    Moses Morris, Sr.

    November 4, 1942 - January 26, 2021

On this day, we thank God for blessing Moses Morris, Sr. with 78 years of life. He was born in Eastover, SC. on November 4, 1942 to the late John Morris, Sr. and Virginia Morris. He was the sixth of ten children born into this union. On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 he was called home to be with the Lord in eternal peace. Moses was a graduate of Webber High School located in Eastover, SC. in 1961. He later graduated from Allen University in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He later earned a certification in Special Education. Moses served as an educator for 30 years. He began his career at Lakeview Elementary School in Lakeview, SC. and later worked at Geer Gantt High School in Belton, SC. His last tenure was with Westside High School where he became the department head for the school’s Special Education program. Moses was a man of faith who demonstrated his love for Christ through his life-long service to his church and community. He was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church for over 40 years. There, he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee, and a member of the Men’s Chorus. Moses was a 49-year Life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and was a founding member of the Anderson County Alumni Chapter. Exemplifying the standards of dedication and brotherhood initiated by the fraternity’s founders, he served as President and Program Chair. The breadth of his cooperative spirit and servant leadership could measure his love of this cherished brotherhood. Moses was married to his loving wife Patricia Morris for 53 years and to this union are three children: Moses Morris, Jr. of Anderson, SC, Latisha Valdine Cahoon (James) of Louisville, Kentucky, and Pattie Lorraine Miles (Anthony) of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are his siblings: Henrietta Wilson and Robert Morris, Sr. of Columbia, SC. and Calvin Morris of Augusta, GA. Moreover, Moses leaves to cherish his fond memories six grandchildren (Millicent A. Cahoon. Madison L. Cahoon, Morgan A. Cahoon, Mahogany C. Miles, Anthony M. Miles, Jr. (Maurice), and Mason S. Miles) and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. On Monday, February 1, 2021 at 11:00 am a graveside service will be held to celebrate his life at Westview Cemetery, Anderson, SC with Pastor Gene Williams, officiating. Public viewing will be Sunday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The family will be at their respective homes.
