The family of Ms. Gillard invite you to join them as they celebrate her life on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 am at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson with Pastor Paul Garrett as the eulogist for the ceremony. The service will be streamed-live through the mortuary’s website. Ms. Mamie Gillard, age 75, of Anderson, SC passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 due to ongoing health issues. Mamie was the daughter of the late Alonzo Gillard and to the late Lucy Moss Gillard of Anderson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Warren, J.C., and Alfonzo Gillard and a sister, Lucille Gillard Edwards. She is survived by her two sons, Tracey (Vanita) Gillard of Detroit, MI and McKinney Mookie (Tanika) Gillard; a daughter, Mitizie (Antonio) Gillard Lesley of Anderson, SC; one brother, John L. Gillard of Detroit, MI; three sisters, Mary Frances (George) Gillard Hayes of Arizona, Clara (Daniel) Gillard Martin of Anderson, SC; Corine (James Edward) Gillard Rice of Andover MA; a host of grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends. She loved getting her hair done. She loved to crack jokes and tell you what she thought about you. Her personality was based on her nails, and she would say, ‘’my daughter.’’ (Mitizie done them). She loved western, CSI, basketball, Heat of the Night, and Madea Shows. She had the most contagious smile and longest pretty hair. She loved her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her family. We, the family of the late Mamie Gillard would like to thank our extended family and friends for your love and support since the passing of our loved one. May God bless each and every one of you. The family is at their respective homes.
