James Lewis Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James Edward Lewis was born September 28, 1948 in Oconee County. James went to meet his loved ones on April 24, 2022. He was the son of the late Theodore Lewis, Sr. and Cora Lee Hunter Lewis. James joined Richland Baptist Church at an early age and remained a member for the duration of his life. James was a proud member of Blue Ridge High School Class of 1966 in Seneca, SC. While at Blue Ridge, he played baseball, basketball, football and ran track. He was also a member of the 1966 State Championship football team. After graduation, James joined the United States Army and served from 1966-1970. When he returned home, he attended Tri-County Technical College in Pendleton, SC from 1975 to 1977. James completed a certification in Auto Body work. James worked at JP Stevens Company in Clemson, SC. He later worked for and retired from Dan River & Alice Manufacturing in Easley, SC in 2016. James was a hard worker. He was known for providing excellent care for vehicles through painting and detailing. In addition, James loved nothing more than to see a yard cut to perfection and with beautiful flowers. James leaves a legacy of love to his three children – Andrea Louise Harbin of Westminster, SC; Dr. Justin Edward Lewis of Anderson, SC; and Nehemiah Malik Dean of Williamston, SC. He leaves two sisters-Anna Lee Webb of Seneca, SC and Consquella Pittman of Georgia; and three brothers – Theodore Lewis, Jr. (Carrie) and Rev. Willie D. Lewis, Sr., both of Seneca; and Joe Simpson of Florida. He also leaves two aunts – Jeanette Green of Florida and Helen Williams of Pendleton, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, lots of friends and fishing buddies. James always told his family that he loved them. Prior to his passing, James was planning his next fishing trip and making plans for his new dog. Funeral service for Mr. Lewis will be held on Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 12:00 noon at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson. Interment will follow at the M.J. ‘’Dolly’’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery, Anderson, SC. Public viewing will be Thursday, May 5th, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the mortuary.
