Hack Garrison, Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Service for Mr. Garrison will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Pendleton United Methodist Church, Pendleton, SC with Reverend Blondell Miller and Reverend Carleathea Benson, officiating. Interment will follow at Webb Cemetery, Pendleton, SC. Public viewing will be Friday from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon. Hack Garrison Sr., age 93, received his wings on Sunday October 3, 2021. He was born January 30, 1928 in Anderson County, SC. He was the son of the late George and Rosie Miller Garrison. He attended the Anderson County Training School but interrupted his education to go to serve in World War II (1945-1947) as a Combat engineer in the Philippines, for which he recently was honored with a Quilt of Valor. Upon returning to the States, he completed his education and married the love of his life, the late Janie Eva Estell Greenlee of Pendleton, SC. He then moved his family to New Haven, CT. to better their way of life for 20 + years. Because of company purposes and to get closer to his hometown, he moved to LaGrange, Ga. There he fell in love with his passion, Golf! 20 years and a retirement later, he returned to Pendleton, SC, where he joined Bethel United Methodist Church. He served on the financial commission for several years and attended faithfully until declining health interfered. He still attended virtually by phone. He also joined the Homing Pigeons, a group of individuals, who left SC for some reason and then later returned home to live. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janie, his son Hack Garrison Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Garrison; granddaughter, Pascha Denson and great-grandchildren, Jasmin Foster and Omarion Garrison; and 17 sisters and brothers of which he was the last. Left to cherish his love are his sons Kenneth B. Garrison of Pendleton, SC and James Thornton of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great- grandchild; and a host of SPECIAL nieces, nephews and relatives, because he LOVED his WHOLE family totally! The family is at 450 Thompson Street, Pendleton, SC 29670.
