Essie Starks Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Essie M. Starks was born Monday, October 25, 1937 in Anderson, SC to the late John Wesley Martin, Sr. and Daisy Lockhart. Essie departed this life on Sunday, June 19, 2022. Essie was a retired loving CNA from Ellenburg Nursing Home now known as Condor Health in Anderson, SC. She started at Ellenburg in 1962 and retired in 2019. She loved her patients and they loved Essie; because she showed the same kind of loving, nurturing, and care to them as she showed her family members and to her community. Essie was a member of the ‘’Red Hat Society.’’ She loved to shop, and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a pillar of her community; she loved to eat and travel and traveled she did! Essie leaves to cherish her fond memories her son, John W. Starks, Jr. of Tacoma , WA; a granddaughter, Trisha Ann Airline of the home; great-grandchildren, Sandricas Airline, Tiffany Airline, Lakeja’ Airline, and Wesley Airline; great-great-grandchildren, Weshawn Airline and four more loving great-great-grandchildren; a host of other family members; and special friends for over 50 years, Gracie Lee, Janie Ruth Morris, Vivian Bryan, Barbara Little, Karen Pruitt, Catherine Adams, Hampton Sullivan, and Shirley Bell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Starks, Sr.; a daughter, Daisy Lee Airline five sisters, Ida Mae Harper, Rosie Lee Crawford Leono Grove, Margie Ford, and Essie Starks; son, J.T. Martin. Acknowledgement for the Family: We, family of the late Mrs. Essie M. Starks wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation of the many expressions of love, concern, and kindness shown during tis time in our lives. Funeral service for Mrs. Starks will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson. Interment will follow at the Anderson Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be Friday, June 24, 2022 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday (the day of the funeral service) from 9:00 am until the time of the service at the mortuary in Anderson. The family will be at their respective homes.
