Bobby Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Bobby Leon Smith, known as “Fats”, was born on December 12, 1960 in Anderson, SC to the late Bobby Lee Smith and Hattie R. Green Smith. He accepted his Heavenly wings on Friday, July 29, 2022. Bobby attended T.L. Hanna High School and his greatest accomplishment are the gifts he helped birth. He did not know the seeds would flourish and bring forth an abundance of blessings who are now carrying the memory of his life’s journey in their hearts. Bobby honored his Mama and called her best friend, loved his children and grandchildren, cherished his family and friends, and enjoyed watching sports, especially the San Francisco 49ers. All who knew and came to know him admired his smile and appreciated his company. He may not have been proud of some choices, but those decisions did not define the true essence of his character, nor did they exemplify the genuine compassion he held for his family. He always loved hard and showed it when opportunities were available. In sickness, he endured greatly but his fervent fight of not quitting was shown every day. The unknowns ahead cast disappointment but his acceptance of Jesus as his Savior sparked faith and a trust that if the end of this life would come, the angels would await him. On the last Friday of July, no one knew the last talk, the last prayer, the last “I love you,” or the last kiss by video were the final ones as he surrendered his last breath and answered the Heavenly Father’s call. It is hoped the angels he once hugged on this earth met him with open arms as he anticipated being in the presence of God no longer in pain, with a free spirit! Surviving are Bobby’s mother, Hattie R. Green Smith of Greenville, SC. Children and Grandchildren: Daughter, Lakeisha S. John (Junior A. John, son-in-love) and children, Rico (bonus son), Immanuel, Solomon, Deborah, Gideon and Dorothy of Killeen, TX; Daughter, Jara Nicole Jenkins-Carmichael (Russell Carmichael, son-in-love) and sons, DeZjon and A'lon of Rochester, NY; Son, Terrill LaShay Bell of Anderson, SC and children, Nailah LaShay Bell, Telayah LaShay Bell, Pharrell Reid, D’Khia Pickens, Brandon Jaquinn White, Terashia LaShay Groves and her son, Levi (Bobby’s only great grandchild); and Patrick Devanta Bell (Chasity Bell, wife); Daughter, Amber Léal Jenkins and children, A'mazge, Vincent Jr., Jaraiya, and Ma'Kiya of Rochester, NY. He is also survived by his brother, J. Harold Smith of Columbia, SC, half-brother and half-sister, Robert Smith and Lori Bush, both of Bridgeport, CT, one Godbrother, Sheldon, nephews and nieces, uncles and aunts, cousins, extended family, and close friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Lee Smith, maternal grandparents, Douglas Green and Sarah Hudson Green Major, paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Alma Smith, sister, Bridgett Annett Smith, and half-sister, Aisha Smith. Main St, Anderson, SC 29624. Viewing Visitation will be Friday, August 12, 2022 from 2 PM until 8 PM. Bobby “Fats” Smith’s homegoing service will be Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 2 PM in their chapel.
