Atlean Coleman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Atlean Marion Coleman was born December 11, 1934, in Anderson, SC, to the union of the late Roosevelt “Dock” and Edna Scott Coleman. She joined Piney Grove Baptist Church as a young child. She attended the public schools in Anderson County. Atlean graduated high school at the early age of 16 and began her college journey at the University of Cincinnati at the age of 17. She was accepted by the university right after high school but could not attend because the university thought she was too young to start college at the age of 16. Atlean earned her degree in pharmaceutical sciences from the University of Cincinnati. Atlean began working before graduation as a pharmacist. Her career spanned almost 40 years as a pharmacist at Gaston Drugstore, Goings Drugstore, and CVS, all in Dayton, Ohio. Atlean passed away on February 25, 2022, and now rests in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She leaves to cherish her fond memory, one sister Margiree Coleman Latimer, Pendleton, one sister-in-law Rosa Coleman, Pendleton; four nieces, Avis Latimer, West Virginia, Tina Latimer Long, Maryland (Brian); Stacey Vernon, Ohio, and Diane Coleman, Ohio. She also leaves two nephews, Thaxton Coleman, Central, Rayford Coleman, Jr, Ohio. She also leaves a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Atlean was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt “Dock” Coleman and Edna Scott Coleman, and seven brothers, Robert Q., Malvin, Calvin, James Edward, Rayford Orange, Roosevelt, and Earl Ernest. The family of Atlean Marion Coleman would like to thank each of you for every labor of love that as rendered during our time of bereavement. We are deeply grateful. Memorial service for Mrs. Coleman will be held at 6:00 pm, Thursday, March 3, 2022 at The Unity Mortuary of Anderson with Reverend Dr. Cory O. Williams, Sr. as the eulogist for the ceremony. The family is at 1413 Cherry Street, Extension, Pendleton, SC
